Dr.
Stamper had a vision to create an eye care experience that
is both unique and focused on the comfort and convenience
of the patient. He and his wife Cristin brought that vision
to life in May 2008, when Visionary Eyecare Center became
the first new private eye care facility to open in Hendersonville
in almost 20 years.
The practice has been carefully crafted to be as comfortable
and inviting as possible, with an atmosphere that some say
more closely resembles a spa than a typical doctor’s
office. Earthy elements provide the atmosphere, including
a stacked stone fireplace and accents, a flowing water feature,
pleasant music, soothing aromatherapy, and large cozy chairs
in the patient lounge.
The eye care procedures have been selected for comfort and
accuracy, which means getting rid of the tests that patients
hate most. Instead of the traditional and unfriendly air
puff test, Dr. Stamper uses a more accurate and more comfortable
method known as Goldmann tonometry. Thanks to revolutions
in imaging technology, most patients have their eyes scanned
by an instrument called the Optomap,
which helps assess the health inside the eyes without requiring
eye dilation.
The practice is a newly built office located in one of Hendersonville’s
most beautiful new office buildings, Club Place, which is
located at the corner of Gallatin Road and Country Club
Drive, and which is also home to the Hendersonville Area
Chamber of Commerce. The practice is a spacious 2,300 square
feet, which provides plenty of room to grow in the next
several years.

Dr. Eric Stamper is the founder, owner and
sole practitioner of Visionary Eyecare Center, which opened
in May 2008. A native of Hendersonville, Dr. Stamper earned
his optometry degree with honors from Southern College of
Optometry in Memphis in 2007 and immediately returned to Hendersonville
to set about opening Visionary Eyecare Center with the help
of his wife Cristin. Since returning to Hendersonville, Dr.
Stamper has sought an active leadership role in the local
community through involvement in numerous charitable events
and membership in a variety of organizations, including the
Hendersonville Morning Rotary, Gallatin Lions Club, Hendersonville
and Gallatin Chambers of Commerce, Leadership Sumner, and
Sumner United for Responsible Government.
While at optometry school, Dr. Stamper was a leader in his
class, leading more than 80 students and optometrists in sight
missions to Latin America during his term as president of
SVOSH (Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity).
He also served a year as the international president for the
Gold Key optometric leadership society and maintained membership
in the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. Since entering practice
in 2007, Dr. Stamper has maintained a high level of industry
participation through several doctor-led organizations, including
the Middle Tennessee Optometric Society, North Central Optometric
Society, Tennessee Optometric Association, and the American
Optometric Society.
Dr. Stamper and his wife Cristin live in "Gallisonville"
(their term for the area where Gallatin and Hendersonville
meet). They have two sweet (but feisty!) Pomeranians named
Cinnamon and Mocha. Dr. Stamper’s various organizational
memberships keep him very busy both day and night, but in
his spare time he enjoys visiting with his parents and brothers
who are still in and around Hendersonville, dining at local
restaurants, playing poker, falling asleep while watching
the Discovery Channel, and is passionate about good governance,
free enterprise, and the principles of the nation’s
Constitution and founding.

Cristin Stamper, Office Manager
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, Cristin has been a resident
of Tennessee since 1999. She first became interested in
eye care when she received LASIK surgery in 2002 after being
extremely nearsighted since the age of six (about
a -12.00 prescription). Amazed by the results of her procedure,
she began working at Southern Eye Associates, an eye surgery
center in Memphis.
During her five years at Southern Eye Associates, Cristin
quickly acquired a whole new set of skills as an ophthalmic
scribe, technician and surgery assistant and counselor.
She received certification for the NIDEK EC-5000 laser and
microkeratome and the IntraLase laser for blade-free LASIK.
She was also able to expand her creative graphic design
skills as their marketing assistant, producing patient education
materials, flyers, presentations, brochures, websites and
more.
Cristin now works alongside her husband (they were married
in his first year of optometry school in 2003) as Visionary
Eyecare Center's office manager, technician, optician and
marketing assistant. She oversees just about every aspect
of the office from check-in to check-out as well as designing
all marketing materials, business cards, and the company
website. In her free time, Cristin is learning to play the
piano and enjoys watching movies, dining at nearby restaurants,
playing video games, and watching her favorite television
shows on the Discovery, Syfy or History channels.
